In fact, most of our workshops are built around the collective sharing of participants’ experiences and having a variety of profiles enriches the learning process and is highly encouraged!
Description
The decrease in the use of handwriting can lead to poor reading and arithmetic skills, reduced memory skills and self-confidence, less self-discipline, and concentration.
Poor posture, eye strain, sleep disturbances, and insufficient physical activity, which leads to obesity, are some of the other issues they might suffer due to the abuse of technology.
Art & Crafts, on the other hand, are an excellent tool to encourage the increase of manual skills, writing, social skills, problem-solving, critical thinking skills, in mainstream children and those with special needs, since art is an extremely inclusive practice.
This course is designed for primary school teachers who want to learn to use Art & Crafts as a tool to foster social, emotional, fine motor, and cognitive skills and prevent/act against the misuse of technology in children, and offer them an engaging set of activities that they can enjoy in school and with their families.
During the course, participants will engage with a series of Art & Crafts activities in the first person, understand how to organize an Art & Craft session, share ideas and experiences with teachers from other countries, and create a project to implement what they learned into their lessons.
They will explore different art materials and techniques (painting, collage, lettering, building…), learn how to practice a motivational and free-judgemental approach to support the creative process of each student, and facilitate group art sessions where children can collaborate, respect each other, and have fun.
By the end of the course, participants will gain confidence and inspiration in the use of Art & Craft activities with their students, understand the importance of practicing creative and manual activities for the children’s development, and they will be able to organize inclusive creative sessions in their school.

The course will help participants to:
- Learn about the importance of drawing, writing, and painting in children’s development;
- Get to know, practice, and learn how to plan and realize a meaningful Art & Craft session in their school;
- Practice different Art & Craft activities firsthand and have a ready-to-use toolbox of activities to use with their students;
- Find inspiration, share ideas, and experience with teachers from other countries, and create a final project to implement what they learned into their lessons.
Tentative schedule
Day 1 – The impact of art on children’s development
- Introduction to the course, the school, and the external week activities;
- Icebreaker activities;
- Presentations of the participants’ schools;
- Art education and Child development – offline kids!;
- Art activity “The colorful portrait”.
Day 2 – Let’s prepare our art and craft lab, the work begins!
- The setting of the Art & Craft Lab: a room, a table, a corridor, an outdoor space… we can make art everywhere! The use of art materials: between creativity and children’s security;
- An appropriate use of technology in art education: exchange of tech tools to foster students’ creativity – group reflections;
- Painting without brushes workshop: “Travelling the world”.
Day 3 – Art&crafts activities – hands-on work
- Art & Crafts activities inspired by festivities, seasons of the year, and cultural traditions;
- Art & Crafts activities to de-stress and have fun!
Day 4 – Eco-creativity: let’s make art outside
- Let’s create our natural paper and ink;
- Nature mandalas with recycling materials – outdoor activity;
- The Animated trees – outdoor activity.
Day 5 – Writing and building an inclusive school community
- Lettering activity with our natural ink;
- Building a collective art installation with 3D objects inspired by the topic of inclusion – final project and discussion.
Day 6 – Course closure and cultural activities
- Course evaluation: round-up of acquired competences, feedback, and discussion;
- Awarding of the course Certificate of Attendance;
- Excursion and other external cultural activities.
