Being a teacher today requires being self-aware and responsible for one’s physical and mental well-being.

This is an important capacity, that all learners also should master. This requires being well aware of one’s potentialities and profiting from creative activities to recharge energy, manage stress and prevent burnout.

Mastering this can be a daunting task… but don’t stress! A specifically designed program can help!

The course will teach participants how to deal with stress and recharge their batteries.

By focusing on stress management, building resilience, and acquiring coping strategies, the course will help teachers create a more positive and supportive learning environment that promotes personal well-being and social-emotional learning for themselves and their pupils.

Throughout the course, participants will learn a variety of methods, energy tools, and mind-body activities to promote personal and social-emotional skills. They will start by strengthening their own well-being, learning different stress-reducing methods, and recharging their energy.

Then, the course will show how to implement a common language of well-being in the classroom, where participants will practice various energy tools and body-mind activities that promote self-care, and mental health.

The course also includes reflection and indications on how to bring a heartful approach into the classroom, to help teachers and students develop emotional regulation, collaboration, and communication.

Combining this approach with creative activities and energy tools creates a strong, helpful, and inclusive culture in the classroom.

By the end of the course, participants will acquire a set of techniques and exercises to manage stress, maintain high energy levels, and efficiently encourage personal and social-emotional growth.

Learning outcomes

The course will help participants to:

• Master different methods and tools for reducing stress;
• Protect and keep up the energy, and recharge to strengthen their well-being;
• Implement a common language of well-being in the classroom;
• Strengthen personal and social skills;
• Develop their students’ social-emotional skills such as empathy, kindness, and a positive tone;
• Exchanging experiences and examples of good practice in a multicultural and safe context.

Tentative schedule

Day 1 – Course Introduction

• Introduction to the course, the school, and the external week activities;
• Icebreaker activities;
• Presentation of you, your school, and your expectations for the course;
• Needs analysis.

Empowering Teachers

• Introduction to Meditation: A research-based approach to improving stress management and your inner peace and power;
• Practice different and effective ways of meditation and find your best way to meditate;
• Your daily guide to practicing meditation no matter where you are is to protect and keep up your energy;
• Seated practice and exchange of experience.

Day 2 – Taking care of teacher wellbeing

• Introduction to Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT): An evidence-based practice to stress management and emotional regulation;
• How to practice EFT to manage negative emotions and troubling thoughts; 
• Your toolbox for inner well-being.  

Day 3 – Cultivating socio-emotional skills and wellbeing

• The importance of socio-emotional skills for teachers and students;
• A language of emotions.

Day 4 – Supporting well-being in the classroom

• Implementing a common language of well-being in your classroom;
• Developing and strengthening the personal and social skills of your students.

Day 5 – Call for action

• An action plan for stress management;
• An action plan for supporting socio-emotional well-being.

Day 6 – Course closure and cultural activities

• Course evaluation: round-up of acquired competencies, feedback, and discussion;
• Awarding of the course Certificate of Attendance;
• Excursion and other external cultural activities.
